la casa delle farfalle
A climatised greenhouse of about 500 m2 reproducing the rainforest climate and ecosystem and housing thousands of butterflies from Amazon forest, Africa, South-East Asia and Australia, together with iguanas, praying mantises and other insects in a setting of lush tropical plants.
Butterflies in the house live their reproductive cycle: chrysalises are delivered by a carrier from Stratford, U.K., by plane each week. Once in the house, they are placed inside an area with big glasses so that visitors can see how they complete their growth and become colourful butterflies - all 'live'!
Its welcoming and interesting centre for environmental education is also worth visiting: but be careful not to disturb its precious guests!
It is the ideal destination to relax after an exhilarating day spent in the nearby amusement parks.
